[☺] Roderich Schwartz (Stage Name)
[☺] That piano kid with the glasses
[☻]Dieter Fritzl
[/ul]
Age:27
Date of Birth
[☺] October 26th
[☻] November 15
Gender:Male
Heritage:Austrian
Birthplace:
[☺]Roderich doesn’t really tell anyone where’s he’s from, so they assume he’s from Wien. He did live in Wein (and abroad) for a good part of his life, but he’s actually from Bregenz.
[☻]Dieter is from Bregenz as well, but lies about it.
Occupation:
[☺] Clinical Psychologist/Therapist/Technically a PSychotherapist, fortunate enough to own his own clinic. He has a doctorate in Philosophy((phd)) Used to be a very well-known musical prodigy/child star. Starred in German Televisions shows as a child as well.
[☻] Dieter likes playing music in bars. And singing. And picking up people. So he doesn’t really have job, he does this for tips.
Height: 5’7” or 171 centimeters
Weight: 140 pounds, or 64 kg
Hair:
[☺] His hair is a chestnut color with both darker and redder strands. Roderich usually styles it to the side and back.
[☻]Dieter has Auburn hair that he doesn’t bother styling much, as he’s fond of his naturally straight hair sweeping into his eyes. Both have an odd cowlick that stands up.
Eyes:
[☺]An odd shade of Orchid for Roderich, which he hides behind framed glasses.
[☻] While Dieter’s eyes lighten to a grey with the tiniest hint of lavender.
Distinguishing Features: A little mole on the right side of both their mouths. Also a cowlick-like strand of hair curls around his head. Roderich also has a pair of very shiny glasses, and has been known to wear a cravat.
Sexual Orientation:
[☺]Roderich analyzes himself on a daily basis and is aware of the fact he might be bisexual. Guilt about it aside, Roderich is actually very wary of sexual relations due to what happened to him.
[☻] Dieter doesn’t believe in putting himself anywhere. He goes after what interests and benefits him, man or woman.
Specimen’s Likes:
[☺]Coffee and good food, more of the sweet variety. Roderich's very good at cooking, since he had to do it in school. He loves cooking and eating good food, and is a bit of a snob when eating food that he hasn’t made. He loves baking and doesn’t need an excuse to make a cake. He also likes sweet wines, or really new ones. With Dieter’s fondness for bars, he’s beginning to suspect alcoholism. Not that he..really minds. Scotch and Schnapps are acceptable too, as Roderich finds himself drinking a glass each night.
[☺]Seeing someone’s condition improve. Roderich has dreams of helping people. Especially ones with similar experiences as his own, since Roderich firmly believes he got over it. He’s pretty dedicated to his patients.
[☺]Having everything nice and tidy, including his life. And giving a good impression of himself because he likes knowing that people think nice of him.
[☺]Nature. He likes big cities just fine, and spent time in the biggest cities of Europe while touring, but his earliest memories are of the Alps and Lake Bodensee, something Roderich believes you is one of the most breathtaking sights in the world.

Specimen’s Dislikes:
[☺]Frivolous spending of money. In personal matters, he hates spending money. It's why he wears the same, albeit constantly repaired and shined pair of shoes and why his suitcase now has cardboard supporting the lining.
[☺]Boats. He gets sea sick and throws up. Also anything with tentacles frightens him. Especially octopuses.
[☺]Googling his name. Or his stage name. He has a weird, weird obsession with stalking his own Wikipedia.de page. He knows he has to stop finding out what people think after more than a decade but that’s harder said than done.
[☺]Rudeness, unless you suffer from something, Roderich thinks everyone should be putting their efforts into being calm and reserved. It’s a simple courtesy that society demands of you. Of course he has experiences with society being very wrong and he tells his patients this often, but Roderich has always wanted to be one of the norm.

Specimen’s Personality:
Roderich Edelstein appears to the world as a well-raised and well-mannered man who grew up wealthy, used to comforts and luxuries. Perhaps he wasn't very loved by his very wealthy parents, too caught up in their own business and financial success. Roderich does give off that impression, true, but it's not true. Roderich is the type of person to worry about impressions. He likes making good ones; he was trained to do so. He's a boy from a small town in a beautiful area, a true Alpine boy from a rather poor family. His parents were young and in-experienced, letting Roderich do what he wanted. He wasn't really disciplined by them in his early life, although he got his own taste of that later on. However, his parents were rather religious and that's seen in Roderich sometimes, as he falls back on prayer when there's nothing left to do.
Austere to most, Roderich Edelstein is never seen smiling in public or even with company, unless he particularly feels close to them. He is distrusting of most people, however behaves like a charming gentleman in front of everyone when he's fully in control of his mind. His voice is elegant and softer than most men's, yet firm and the pitch is almost always controlled (this is because his voice tends to go higher and may even crack when Roderich is extremely upset). However, despite being quite known for his charm as a child, Roderich only uses it as a way to get his more shy patients to talk.
Behind the calm and reserved mask lies a passionate man restricted by self-imposed constraints and fear in being out of control of his life. Roderich's the man who will stop himself from having too much fun because deep down he feels guilty. As a teenager Roderich spent time justifying how his mentor abused him, looking over what he did to deserve his punishments. Although reading books on it has helped him, Roderich prefers to lock his experiences away rather than come to full terms with it. During stressful situations he tends to look for a way to express what he’s feeling and you can see him stress knitting (if he’s in his office). At home he tends to play his instruments (usually the piano) to get rid of the stress. It doesn’t take much to stress Roderich out, although it’s hard to tell by his expression, and he usually causes it himself. Roderich’s a bit of a perfectionist and when things seem a little too complicated to accomplish, he gives up and procrastinates till the last moment, and he usually has more than one thing to do, something that causes his stress. Obviously he can’t manage his time well. However, his pride prevents him from not doing what is asked of him and doing it haphazardly. He does put it in time and a great amount of effort when motivated or forced to do work.
Roderich can be both the harshest and proudest person in regards to himself. He dislikes basically everything about himself, hating his appearance, his actions. Edelstein feels plain and wishes to look more exotic, more noticeable sometimes, always has. However, he sets standards for himself, more constraints on himself that he won’t allow himself to break. He was taught to be polite to people and he’s very rigid on being well-mannered and polite to people, perhaps because the stiff, austere well-mannered gentleman is all Roderich has that he’s sure of. Without that impression of him, Roderich isn’t sure what there is, what survived his years as a child star. It’s why he locks everything away, since he rather not face himself.
Specimen’s Second Personality:
Roderich may have created Dieter, but he’s not aware that he has manifested into an alternate personality or how twisted this repressed side of himself. A way Roderich would describe his mind if he was aware of Dieter would be like this; Roderich is the ego, the rationalized and reality-tied part of himself that keeps himself to the expectations of society. And thus, Dieter is the Id, the dark, instinctual part of Roderich.
Dieter, while as much of a perfectionist as Roderich, doesn’t procrastinate. He’s a patient person, he likes the process of ‘work’. And Roderich and Dieter both work with people. Roderich as a psychologist, and Dieter as a manipulator. He likes toying with others. There isn’t a real reason; Dieter is more of a twisted person for the sake of being one. Amazing, one would think, that he’s someone with no end goal in sight. But Dieter is precisely that; long-term goalless. He isn’t as organized in his goals as Roderich is, which is why all his actions seem to lead to his own immediate satisfaction.
Dieter is charming and manipulative, but he’s also capable of great harm. While Roderich represses and pushes his emotions into creative outlets, his alter patiently masks them until he’s ready to unleash them upon someone. He’s not one for personal connections, preferring to toy with people by playing many roles, like an actor. But Dieter can be very possessive of his ‘victims/audience’. In fact, just as Roderich has some sense of being a romantic, Dieter perverts this like he does with the rest of Roderich’s personality by wishing to contain people he likes, and harming them if they don’t wish to mold into what he wants. His cruelty also unleashes itself when is pride is harmed, as Dieter is very confident, almost to the point of egoism. However, if it helps him manipulate someone, he is not above self-deprecation.
It must be noted that Dieter won’t directly harm someone unless it serves the interests of himself or that sniveling moron he happens to share a body with. He’s well aware of what he is, a representation of, and yet he’s able to think of himself as the same person as Roderich sometimes. Because of the fact he doesn’t have long-term goals other than his continued satisfaction and existence, it’s hard to explain his feelings for Roderich, except he seems to both ‘care’ and dislike him. However, he seems to enjoy toying with Roderich as much as he does with others, perhaps even more since Roderich is not aware of him and Dieter seems to be able to gain control of the body easily when Roderich is under stress. However he hasn’t yet shown signs of attempting to get rid of him.
Dieter is often found in bars, playing piano. While Roderich is passionate about music, Dieter is passionate about people liking it. He doesn’t exactly appreciate the music he makes, only the smug feeling it gets him. Dieter actually dislikes those who make music for their enjoyment only, not using it for financial or social gain. It’s the reason his songs sound a little different from Roderich’s, because he understand the theory of music, knows the motions, knows everything but has no emotional attachment to the piece he makes.

Specimen’s Brief History:
Born in Bregenz, Austria, a small but well-known town on Lake Bodensee (Lake Constance), near Switzerland and Germany, Roderich spent his toddling in a place of natural Alpine beauty. His father was a business man with a small and unprofitable business. His mother was a housewife. Roderich remembers them having an old grand piano, his grandmother’s. Neither of his parents could play, it just looked good in the living room when their friends came over. Roderich was odd child, affectionate but extremely morose and blunt as a toddler.
One day, at three years old, Roderich began to play with the piano. He taught himself in mere months to play and his parents, astonished, began taping him and showing him to a local music teacher. By four and a half, Roderich was on to complicated pieces, playing piano and even developing his voice. His teacher proclaimed him a prodigy and soon everyone in the town began to hear and even try to see the little boy who played music so well. Roderich, unused to such attention (no matter how talented he was, his parents were more of the neglectful sort), felt shy at all the attention. And attention he got once his parents realized how profitable it was to tour Roderich.
Then came Dietrich M. Herr Metternich immediately offered his services to the Edelsteins. His services? Selling Roderich. Dietrich, besides being a talented musician himself, was a well-known manager as well. A smooth, charming man on the outside, he was basically tyrannical on the inside. The Edelsteins were already overwhelmed with the prospect of Roderich playing shows, but Metternich sold them into believing that Roderich could be used for more. And so Roderich began playing various concert halls.
Other instruments were added to his repertoire, Roderich just as proficient on them as he was on his piano. However learning them wasn’t as fun as it used to be. All because of Dietrich. The man was ruthless with Roderich, almost breaking down the little self-confidence the five-year old had. As Roderich’s parents weren’t the most watchful sort this went unnoticed. Roderich started becoming popular, everybody’s favorite little wunderkind. And so came acting lessons, and with that came commercials and eventually a spot on a German TV show.
The Edelsteins couldn’t be happier. Their son was a child star and their monetary concerns were of another life. Their son was as sullen as usual outside of the camera, and sure the boy wanted to go to school like a normal boy, but when did children, even prodigies, know what was best for them?
Things changed a little when Roderich was ten. It was his first ‘mess-up’. He stormed off during a show in Belgium, shaming both Dietrich and himself. While his parents didn’t really care much, his manager/mentor did.
Roderich doesn’t like remembering the first time Dietrich ‘punished’ him. He remembers throwing up afterwards and falling asleep to Dietrich’s words of how he was nothing, and how he was a stupid, ugly, and miserable child. Roderich shudders every time he hears the phrase ‘make something of you’ because that’s exactly what he said to him as he touched him. The punishment worked, Roderich never dared to something like that again. Not that Dietrich stopped. He made Roderich feel ashamed as often as he could, whether by a hand on his thigh during his daily practice, or forcing him into things Roderich was too young to understand. The young musician just knew that these things were things to be ashamed of.
By his teens, Roderich was now a little older than a childstar was supposed to be. He could progress more, branch into pop music or even try out for a movie. But Roderich decided that he wanted out of his lifestyle. His parents were disappointed, but Roderich wouldn’t budge. He hated his career, hated anything that put him closer to his tormenter. His parents, unaware of the reason why Roderich wanted to leave the entertainment industry, gave in and let him leave to go to school. Roderich only saw Dieterich once more, on his fifteenth birthday before the man killed himself drunk in a car crash. Roderich wanted to kiss the grave during the funeral, so relieved that there would no reason to reveal what transpired between him and his mentor.
Of course no one recognized Roderich, who had gone under a stage name (Roderich Schwartz) when he was performing. Roderich became a recluse, preferring books to people and no one gave the rather prissy boy with glasses another thought in school. Still, Roderich liked it. He especially enjoyed mediation, an activity he was forced into by the school counselor. He found he was good at it, with his reserved nature and ability to listen. Soon he found himself reading more about and eventually came upon the subject of psychology.
The Edelstein’s were crestfallen. It was tough adjusting to Roderich’s hopes for being normal. And now he had no plans to go back to performing. But Roderich was firm on attending college. And so he did. College began like Secondary School, with Roderich being as reserved and reclusive as he was. But soon he began to change, remembering his time in the limelight and actually wanting some small part of it back. It’s then that he thought of Dieter. After a summer pretending to be Dieter, Roderich stopped himself and started repressing all urges to be like him. But Roderich did change for the better, becoming more open and willing to make friends with others. But his habit of repressing every unwanted quality about himself turned the idea of ‘Dieter’ into a multiple personality Roderich isn’t even aware of.
Roderich worked until he achieved what he wanted; a doctorate, working part-time in a clinic to achieve it as well. As he finished his Doctorate up he saw an ad for a clinical psychologist needed in a Swiss city quite close to where he grew up in Austria. Coincidentally, the prices of owning a practice were so cheap that Roderich couldn’t pass this opportunity up. And so Roderich moved to Amenic and opened up a clinic, and is now awaiting patients.
Split’s Emergence:
Dieter was always the odd case. After all he wasn’t a split personality at first, but he was an alter at first. And so shut-in Roderich found himself staring at a mirror in his dorm room in the third year of college. He had spent most of his college time avoiding others, more reserved since he had become a normal person. He would barely talk to anyone, preferring his book and his bed. But sometimes Roderich would stare out the window, watching his classmates fraternize and nostalgia for his youth would arise, quickly squished down by his less happy memories. And so when an opportunity came, Roderich dyed his hair and stopped styling it, letting it fall naturally into place. He took off his fake glasses and dressed differently from how he usually did. And so Roderich forced himself to think like Dieter, the persona he created for this occasion. Dieter's wasn't initially as cruel as he came out to be, only very extroverted and confident, a people pleaser. He was sensual, friendly, and likable. Roderich longed to be these things and so he got very into 'playing' Dieter. This lasted for a summer, until Roderich got scared if how life-like it was becoming.

This is a post from Zirkustalia, an AU Victorian Circus Rp where I play Austria.
The caravan belonging to a Herr Roderich Von Edelstein was elegant but not extremely flashy as Roderich disliked gaudiness. No elegance could be achieved in piling things upon things without and limits or design. Over-painting his caravan or adding unnecessary details was like adding unneeded parts to a symphony; the end result was more cacophony then beauty. The caravan did give a strong impression of being one that was cleaned and polished often, often shining brightly in comparison to other caravans. Such was the case on this particular night, the full moon shining down on Roderich's caravan (and the other ones as well) from the heavens seemed to make the caravan glow as soft scratching noises were emitted from it.
The Manager of the Zirkus was currently sitting on the edge of his stool, his back bent over the desk on which he was writing. For once Roderich's caravan wasn't meticulously clean; it was as scattered and messy as it's master's current state of mind. Crumpled scraps of paper dotted the inside of the caravan, mostly strewn carelessly around the little wooden wastepaper bin he kept near his door. The little closet was lazily stuffed, opening enough to show a few of Roderich's petticoats, one being a particularly embarrassing lacy number. The bed was unmade and showed signs of its occupant having tossed around. The desk, usually in pristine condition and neatly organized, had paper and utensils lying unorganized and several coffee rings from the cups on it.
Roderich leaned in further over his desk as he held his un-groomed(therefore straight) hair in place by holding on to it with the hand holding up his head. It was late at night and he resisted the urge to rub at his eyes with ink-stained hands and arms. The contents of the desk were barely visible by the dim candle light Roderich was using, but several crumpled and hastily written letters and notes, a freshly inked entry in his Tagebuch could be seen. Roderich quickly scribbled over a stack of forms, not even bothering to read some of them, intent on finishing before dawn. Due to the letter on his desk from his mother, he had received an even bigger workload than normal. Not that he hadn't expected this, after all sending money back home meant that they had money to make investments and dealings. It was just irritating.
Roderich stopped dead in his writing after hearing a noise outside. Dropping his quill into the inkwell (he didn't feel it necessary to waste money on a pen when he could use a quill. To hell with modern fashion was his response to people who asked why he still used those things) he straightened himself and his cravat, unconsciously getting some ink on it.
"Who could be outside at this time?" thought Roderich. Technically he wasn't even in proper appearance, as he had no shoes on, but Roderich didn't give a damn about his appearance at this time of night. Grabbing the candle dish, Roderich tiptoed softly to the door and peeked through the key hole he had made for himself. Roderich’s eyesight wasn’t bad, but he was barely able to make out the shape of the person outside through his window. Blink. He could see it was a man, not very tall, either. Another blink. He was definitely holding something alive, a dog or a cat perhaps? And what was that odd hair going to the side? After recognizing the man outside, Roderich quickly lifted the latch and poked his head out the door to look at Lovino Vargas.
“Herr Vargas? What in Gott’s name are you doing outside at this hour?”
